Jose Gabriel Lopez
Jose Gabriel Lopez born in Mexico City in 1963,
he discovered very early  in life his love for
painting. He started in Elementary school with
watercolors and then dedicating himself to Murals.
Jose never received formal instruction but he has
developed his own style somewhat primitive, with
strong colors and blending reality with fantasy in
a seductive way. Influenced by the Catrina from
Posadas, he paints animated skeletons who are in
amusing situations, which are both entertaining
and reflect philosophical perceptions of life and
eternity.

His style is innocent and ingenuous revealing
dreams and fantasy in bold colors: rich in red, blue
and white as in the American flag. His signature
works are represented by friendly skeletons who
enact the idiosyncrasies and peculiarities of the
living. Jose Gabriel media is Oil with few Acrylics
artworks.

He has exhibited in many cities and  "Calaveras"
Chicago 1992
"Around the coyotes" Chicago 1992
"The Fourth World" Chicago

He has been a professional artist since 1992. He is
now residing in Austin, Texas.
